It occurs to me that "use it or lose it" is both a good idea _and_ a phenomenon enforced upon us by nature. # [[Minimalism]] You accumulate stuff because you allow things you no longer use (or use so infrequently as to _effectively_ no longer use) to remain in your life. If you're not using something, you simply shouldn't have it. # Strength & Cardio If you don't utilize your muscular and cardiovascular potential, they will atrophy and you'll no longer have the capability to use them. # [[Range of Motion]] I've heard that everyone can to the splits. Every baby can put their foot in their mouth without problem. We all just "forget" that we can do it. Our body can actually go a lot further than our brain will allow. I've also heard if you were to take an unconscious person and stretch their leg, you'd be able to go a lot further than they'd be able to go themselves if they were awake. The only way to retain full mobility is to actively continue to use your full range of motion, lest you become stiff and inflexible. ## Time [[Intentionality]] is what turns "passing time" into "using time". You shouldn't be constantly busy, but you should be constantly *using* your time the way you want. This includes being productive, but it also includes rest, fun, and simply practicing contentment. If you aren't *using* your time intentionally, you'll end up *losing* that time. **** # More ## Source - [[Myself]], primarily - [[Built to Move]], got me to connect some dots
