There are 4 named types of Enterprise Architects in the source.
1. **Enterprise Architects** - the most senior, with broad scope & broad IT expertise. They are the most senior of the architects and have the broadest scope.
2. **Business Area Architects** - these have narrow scope with broad expertise. They are limited in their view to a particular section of the business, but handle the majority of the architecture work in that section.
3. **Domain Architects** - these are the opposite of business area architects, broad scope with narrower expertise. They would handle of of the [[Enterprise Architectural Layers]] for the whole business.
4. **Solution Architects** - these are the most junior of the architects, with narrower scope and narrower expertise. They work in the [[EA Outlines]] and [[EA Designs]] space, whereas all the others work in the "CSVL" part of the [[CSVLOD]] model.
Domain and Business Architects are an example of the [[Horizontal and Vertical Approaches|broad versus deep]] [[pattern]].
