Even well-intentioned actors can be forgiven for missing the asterisk next to statements of truth. Nothing is ever really that simple. There are counter arguments and exceptions to everything. One of the biggest problems we face as a society is to need to argue for nuanced understandings of situations. Some political positions downright deny the existence of nuance - and it shifts the burden to those who have to try to explain the complex realities that underlie what would otherwise feel like "obvious truths".
