The United States healthcare system is one of my least favorite things on this planet.
In [[Good Energy (book)]], Dr. Casey Means speaks at great length about the problems with the economic [[Incentives]] of our health care industry. It is not in their best interest for us to actually be [[Health is Vague|healthy]]. They make money by giving us treatments, which require us to need them. **They don't make money when we are healthy** and don't need treatment. They don't typically have recommendations that _keep you from coming back_. They have pills, elixirs, and surgeries that treat symptoms that are already there.
This lead Casey Means and many other doctors to become disillusioned with our healthcare system. This plus the fact that doctors are some of the most overworked, most over[[stress]]ed least rested, and therefore least healthy folks.
This is where "functional" and "holistic" medicines come in - to try to keep you from _needing_ to be treated in the first place.
