Task managers are systems used for the collection and disposition of [[Action→Task→Project→Area Hierarchy|tasks]]. The most interesting ones are _digital_ in nature, but there is no arguing that something like a [[Daily Post It]] could be rightly described as a “task manager”.
Task managers may or may not be distinct from [[Calendars are the Most Important Productivity Tool|calendars]] and [[Project Management App]]s. In an ideal world they would all be aware of one another and play off each-other’s strengths.
Task managers are where your [[Tasks Records]] would be kept, if they aren’t [[Note Types#Project Notes]].
Ideally a task manager would have robust support for [[Contextual Reminders]], including support for time, date, and location. In the case of the [[iOS Reminders App]], you can also have reminders pop up when messaging someone.
Many task managers support [[Kanban]] board creation/usage.
