The counterpart to [[System 1]]. System 2 carries out deliberate actions. It follows sequences. It holds things in memory. It is probably always *somewhat* active, but Daniel Kahneman posits that it is fundamentally **lazy**.
System 2 is recruited by system 1 when necessary to perform cognitive tasks. Even something as simple as reading text printed in unclear fonts can cause enhanced recruitment of system 2 as compared to clear easy-to-read fonts.
