[[Enterprise Architecture]] is one of those things that take a lot of hard work, to wind up with something that looks easy. It's [[Brevity Takes Time]] and a lot of of skills from a diverse set of domains. A good enterprise architect is well skilled at: - **Knowledge of the Business** - know what the business is & how it operates, who's involved and the politics - **Knowledge of Information Technology** - know how to implement systems and how they work, knowing what trends are happening, release/change/project/service management - **Effective Communication** - because the whole point of EA is to communicate how & why people should do things, you need to be able to use [[Idiomatic]] language for both business & IT folks - translating the domains for each other, also creating [[Enterprise Architecture Artifacts]] that are clear - **Collaborative** - fundamentally the EA discipline is about bringing people together - ruling with an iron fist isn't typically possible & wouldn't be ideal - you have to be good at helping others find common ground - **Innovative Mindset** - need to be cognizant of new technologies/methods and interested in how they could benefit the business - **[[Systems Thinking]]** - table stakes for EA. **** # More ## Source - [[The Practice of Enterprise Architecture]] ## Related
