One of the main themes of Cal Newport's "Slow Productivity" is _Obsess Over Quality_. In this, he is using evocative language to say that a commitment to producing _good_ work is more rewarding than simply producing "passable" material. This is very much in line with most of the rest of the messages from his other books, notably [[So Good They Can't Ignore You]], and perhaps to a slightly lesser extent [[Deep Work (book)]]. The general notion is one I buy into, though. Working on something you _care_ about is better than working on something you _don't_... and if you care about something you tend to want to do it to a high level of quality. High levels of quality also are more valuable [[Per Capita is more Important than Gross|Per Capita]].
Also - high quality results are rare. Anyone (or any [[Large Language Models|LLM]]) can churn out average work. High quality work makes you more valuable and less replaceable.
