Nucleus means a few things. Most often people jump to the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell (housing the DNA) OR the center of an atom (housing Neutrons and Protons) but "nucleus" is a general term meaning: > the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth. This, broader definition of nucleus makes "having a nucleus" a system design [[Pattern]]. Lately it has felt increasingly important - those ideas, efforts, and goals which **center about an enduring nucleus** are so much more likely to be successful. I would almost go so far as to say that _every_ success I can think of has a fairly easy to point to nucleus that made sustaining its existence (and thus, progress) possible. Meanwhile, the _lack_ of a coherent and articulatable nucleus has, in retrospect, been a root cause of failures I've seen and been a part of. # Example Nuclei - My [[PDW]] has been the nucleus of many self-improvement efforts and [[Project-Based Learning]] - My website and [[My Notes]] have both been the nucleus of different flavors of idea development - Having my home gym has been the nucleus of my efforts to stay fit - Having my [[Overall Fitness Test]] [[spreadsheet]] has kept the idea of doing fitness tests alive. ## Source - self - Oxford Languages definition ## Related
