A fresh install of [[React]] and [[Redux]] using the current "recommended" path installs **604 packages**, including **11 deprecated ones**, and **140MB** of space... just to have the `node_modules` necessary for *scaffolding* an app. That's 140MB of space for an app that doesn't yet do anything. That's more than all of [[My Notes]] (including the assets!) *combined*. The original 3D game, Quake, was just over 8MB. The game Animal Well, which was a huge release in 2024, is less than 40MB. All that size comes from the addition of [[Simplicity|Complexity]]... an overwhelming majority of which you *probably* aren't going to use (or even know exists). All of that scaffolding buys you "modern methods" to do a ton of stuff you probably don't need. It only costs 604 dependencies that you don't control, 11 of which are already outdated, a ton of [[Overhead]], and general **bloat**. **** # More ## Source - https://youtu.be/WfUQHpcLKF4?si=56-ixFDTHAOp-mpQ
