It turns out [[GTD]] is different from my tepid memory of it from years back. A [[Next Action]]s List is _not_ just a fancier term for a basic "to-do" list. Not only is it meant to be a list of things you can _actually do_, it's meant to be **organized around context**. You'd have an "In the car" context, a "at computer" context, and so on. Your actions would be tagged with or grouped by the _context_ in which you can actually do something with them. There's a wide reported variety in the "typical" number of concurrent "next actions" that you should have queued up (because there's a wide variety of the number of concurrent projects), I saw anywhere between 10 and 60.
His list of "typical" contexts (but not "recommended", you should develop your own):
- Calls
- At Computer
- Errands
- At Office
- At Home
- Anywhere
- Agendas - (planning real-time interactions)
- Read/Review
Also next actions are typically part of [[Defining Project|project]]s, and par of the "process" of GTD is to ensure every project in your [[Project Lists]] has an associated next action.
