Food has been [[Processed Foods|designed]] by industry to **not** fill you up. This is done for economic reasons & [[Incentives]] - you aren't full so you buy more of their product, thereby they make more money. There are a couple of _mechanisms_ at play here. 1) They tap into your hardwired biological [[Dopamine]] systems by loading products with [[Sugar]], the same kind of sugar that triggers a bear to gorge itself on over-ripe fruits before they need to hibernate for the winter... but in our case we aren't trying to pack on pounds for the winter. We just love sweet stuff, the same way (literally) that drug addicts love heroin. 2) The body literally doesn't get the nutrients it needs from these foods (e.g. Doritos), this leads it to send signals to your brain saying "hey we need more food". Your brain sees more Doritos and says "hey that's food!" and the cycle continues. My apologies to the fine folks who make Cool Ranch. This is more or less a restating of one of the 6 [[Good Energy Principles]]. **** # More ## Source - [[Good Energy (book)]] - [[Simple Science Fitness]] ## Related
