The Glycemic Index is a supposed 1-dimensional ranking system that foods were placed on to show their effects of [[Blood Sugar]]. The index ranks foods from 0 to 100 in their effects on blood glucose as measured 2 hours after food consumption. # Personalization Issue One problem with the Glycemic Index is that the [[Blood Sugar]] response to foods turned out to be highly _personalized_. For example - some folks show a very high response to things like White Rice, whereas others showed a much more modest response. This doesn't totally invalidate the glycemic index, as it's still believed to be more-or-less accurate _on average_, but your own personal response may be different. The only way to know would be to utilize a [[Continuous Glucose Monitor]] and [[Capturing Logs|log]] what foods you ate and how your levels responded. **** # More ## Source - [[Good Energy (book)]] - [[Simple Science Fitness]] - [[Huberman Labs]] podcast episode with [[Casey Means]] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index ## Related
