The [[GTD]] workflow is a 5-step process. > [!tip] Mastering Workflow > 1. Capture > 2. Clarify > 3. Organize > 4. Reflect > 5. Engage Each of these steps can be done independently. You can even use [[Task Batching]] to _just_ do step _(whatever)_. ![[Pasted image 20240606234957.png]] # [[Ongoing Capture|Capture]] You need to have an [[Inbox]] where you can get commitments out of your head, but not forgotten about. This is done using things like: - A physical **inbox** (or something that functions like one) - A physical pen & paper (if using the [[Medium Method]]) - Digital audio or note-taking devices (siri + [[iOS Reminders App]], for example) - E-mail and text messaging. It's best to have as few "capturing buckets" as possible (while still having all the ones you need). You have to empty each regularly, and having many makes that more prone to failure. [[Simple is Maintainable]]. # Clarify Once you've captured something, you have to decide what it _means_, what do you want to do about it? If you don't clarify then the thing you've captured lays in an in-actionable state. Think about your [[Next Action]]. Write _that_ down. # Organize Once you've captured & clarified, use [[Contextual Reminders]], your [[Task Manager]], and [[Time Blocking]] your calendar to help put the next thing you need to do in a spot where it will resurface when you need to work it. # Reflect Have [[Periodic Reviews]] where you check in with your productivity systems. Clear your [[Inbox]]. Check your [[Calendars are the Most Important Productivity Tool|calendar]]. Check your [[Next Action]] list. Know what's on your plate today and in the near future. Know your [[Deadlines and "Do" Dates]]. # Engage Once you've done all that, you have to still **do the work**. Always be aware of your calendar and do the thing you've scheduled. **** ## Source - [[Getting Things Done The Art of Stress-Free Productivity]] - Some sugar added by me ## Related
