Not a term I've seen used elsewhere[^1], but a term I'm adopting for myself. Borrowing from full-stack development, where a single coder handles both the front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) development, I'm interested in *all aspects* of hobby-work. Building. Crafting. Writing. Story-telling. Drawing. Coding. A full stack hobbyist is not only a full-stack *coder*, but also a full-stack *maker*. ![[Full-Stack Hobbyist 2026-01-25 10.29.59.excalidraw.svg]] %%[[Full-Stack Hobbyist 2026-01-25 10.29.59.excalidraw.md|🖋 Edit in Excalidraw]]%% The **engineering part** - structuring things, making the interfaces work, doing the math The **artist part** - making it interesting, making it fun, making it tell a story The **craftsman** - improving the practical aspects of the hands-on work ## My full-stack hobbies An incomplete list, for now. - Writing (a lot) - Home improvement - Visualization making - drawing & diagramming - Systems building - My [[Aaron's Puzzles|puzzle boxes]] are the most visible focal point of my hobby ![[Full-Stack Hobbyist 2026-01-25 11.08.22.excalidraw.svg]] %%[[Full-Stack Hobbyist 2026-01-25 11.08.22.excalidraw.md|🖋 Edit in Excalidraw]]%% **** # More ## Source - myself [^1]: ...until I just googled "Full-Stack Hobbyist" with quotes. I'm not the only person to ever come up with this concept. That's okay!
