The Four Burners Theory is an idea that you can separate out your life into four areas, like the burners on a stove. These are:
- Health
- Family
- Friends
- Career
You cannot succeed long-term by trying to constantly burn all four burners as hot as possible, that leads to [[Burnout]]. Basically if you want to be successful in one quadrant, you may have to turn down the gas on one (or two) other quadrants.
This is probably just the [[Work, Health, Love, Play Dashboard]] in another name, come to think of it.
It’s easy to go to the gym if you skip dinners out with friends. It’s easy to go have dinners out with friends if you skip the gym. It’s really hard to do both.
