**Do not disregard *desirements* – but instead recognize them for what they are.**
A "desirement" is something that a stakeholder _says_ is required, but is actually just something they _want_ (not need). Could be from a case of [[The XY Problem]], or a failure of stakeholder imagination. Always good to probe potentially problematic requirements to get at the root (I.e. doing [[5 Whys]]). Often requirements are expressed in terms of _application_ rather than [[Business Capability Models|capabilities]].
Alternatively - a stakeholder might know they have a *desirement*.
