The [[Fundamentals of Business Process Management|Fundamentals of BPM]] outlines 3 basic process categories, used broadly in their [[Process Landscape Diagrams]]. 1. **Core Processes** - those things that create value. Why the company exists. What it does. e.g. making products or the delivery of services 2. **Support Processes** - exist to enable the core processes. Include things like HR, finance, etc. 3. **Management Processes** - provide direction and set up the constraints the other processes work within. Include things like strategic planning, compliance, risk management, etc. The distinction between management & support feels fairly arbitrary to me. The book outright states: > [!cite] The distinction of core, support, and management processes is of strategic importance to a company. > Fundamentals of Business Process Management, pg 41 I disagree. Separating Core from support, sure. But management to me just feels like a particular flavor of "support". Whatever. **** # More ## Source - [[Fundamentals of Business Process Management]]
