If anything is possible, nothing really matters. If you have the magic "solve this problem" button, you can push that and boom problem solved. When you can't push that button, because it doesn't exist or you have some other constraint preventing you from pushing it, that's when you start to get creative. 
Not having the money to show a wicked cool explosion can force movie makers to find alternative ways to make the explosion "happen" in their story. 
Huge engineering challenges which result in technological breakthroughs come from enforcing a constraint that cannot possibly be made by simply "doing what we're already doing, but a bit better". It's one thing to increase speed by 5%, it's something else *entirely* to increase speed by 300%. This is probably one of the underlying factors that makes [[The One Thing]] approach work.
