[[Svyatoslav Kotusev]] dedicated a chapter of [[The Practice of Enterprise Architecture]] to explain [[Enterprise Architecture]] through a city planning metaphor. I went with [[Groceries as an Enterprise Architecture Metaphor]]. His is more well thought out.
- **Business executives** are like **city governors**. They are the ultimate decision makers, but don't need all the details. They set the long-term goals.
- **IT Project Teams** are like **construction project teams**. They deliver the short-term job in front of them, but need not be as concerned with long-term goals.
- **Architects** are like **city planners**. They help the city governors and the construction project teams work in concern with one-another such that the short-term projects add up to the long-term goals.
The 6 types of [[Enterprise Architecture Artifacts]] found in the [[CSVLOD]] can be thought of in terms of both EA and city planning as well:
